Dr. Turovskiy takes an integrative approach to health and medicine to create whole-body treatment options.

How would you describe integrative medicine?

In integrative medicine, health isn’t just an absence of disease. We also want to optimize physical, mental, and emotional functioning. Our approach starts with a comprehensive diagnosis based on modern testing such as MRI and other imaging; in-depth blood work; and advanced tests to determine food intolerances, hormonal functions, brain chemical activities, and genetic makeup.
What is your treatment approach?

My conventional medical training and work in physical medicine allow me the opportunity to sort through the conventional medical data of the patient’s history to create an accurate diagnosis. We design a science-based treatment plan that incorporates both Western and Oriental medicine according to the patient’s unique needs.

A licensed Acupuncture Physician in Florida for over 20 years, Dr. Turovskiy studied acupuncture at the Mandarin School of Chinese Medicine in Jacksonville and earned his graduate degree at the Academy for 5 Element Acupuncture in Hallandale.

How did you become interested in acupuncture?

When I was a child, my mother was diagnosed with a severe neurological disorder and I saw firsthand from a very young age how acupuncture was able to help her in a way that conventional medicine was unable to address.
How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works by addressing blockages in the signals between the brain, the spinal cord, organs and tissues. It’s an ancient approach that’s been proven to be effective in addressing pain, headaches, hormonal disorders, arthritis, autoimmune conditions, digestive disturbances, fatigue, stress, respiratory issues, depression, symptoms of withdrawal and more.

Are there any misconceptions about Oriental medicine or acupuncture you would like to address?

One misconception is that Oriental medicine, including acupuncture, is “unscientific.” Oriental medicine is actually the longest and widest practiced style of medicine in the world, with thousands of years of history and vast populations who rely on it.
Is acupuncture painful?

That’s another common misconception. The degree of discomfort is often greatly exaggerated. Also, some of the styles I practice are very gentle, including modern no-needle methods that incorporate laser and electronic stimulation of acupuncture points that are suitable for young children, the elderly, and fragile patients.
